Easily spotted in the heart of Carterton with its 2.5 metre red metal moa perched atop the veranda, Red Moa Gallery features exceptional local art with a focus on both contemporary and traditional work.
The Wairarapa is home to the nationally-renowned Wai Art awards and boasts one of the highest ratio of artists in New Zealand. Red Moa Gallery takes full advantage of the fantastic spectrum of astonishing art produced in this vibrant, dynamic community, as well as works from the wider reaches of Aotearoa New Zealand.
In a gloriously airy and light-filled space, owner and curator Andrea Johnston has brought together the work of sculptor Sean Crawford, metal artist Niko Thomsen, painters Fay Portman, Anna-Marie Kingsley, Paulette Harris and Rebekah Farr, ceramic sculptor Sam Ludden, woodwork artist Jeremy Bicknall and more.
